myGuru — Privacy Policy

myGuru is a personal astrology companion. To do its job it remembers things about you. This page says exactly what it collects, why, and what control you have.

What we collect

• Account details: a username and a PIN (stored only as a hash — we cannot read it).
• Birth details: your birth date, time and place, used to compute your astrological chart. This is the heart of the app and is required at signup.
• Location and timezone: your device's location and browser timezone, refreshed when you open the app or spin, used to compute the sky above you, local timing windows and weather. The app works from your last known or birth location if you decline location access.
• Conversations: your chat messages with the guru are stored, and the app derives remembered facts, events, goals and to-dos from them to personalize future conversations.

How it is used

• Everything collected is used for one purpose: personalizing your readings and conversations. There are no ads, no third-party analytics, and we never sell your data.
• To generate replies and readings, your messages and remembered profile are processed by AI providers (Anthropic; DeepSeek as fallback) under their API terms; they are not used to train their models per those providers' API policies.
• Your coordinates are sent to open weather services (Open-Meteo, NOAA) to fetch local weather and sky conditions — never with your name or account attached.

Where it lives

Data is stored in a managed Postgres database (Neon, hosted in the United States) and is not shared with anyone beyond the processors named above.

Your control

• The in-app Memory page shows what the guru remembers and lets you delete any memory permanently — deletion is immediate and unrecoverable.
• To delete your entire account and all data, email jace@deskhand.ca from any address, naming your username; deletion completes within 30 days.

Age

myGuru is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

Any change to this policy is posted at this address with a new effective date.
